I was born on the 9th of November, 1982, in Zurich, Switzerland. Growing up in Zurich I was close to the mountains so I used to ski a lot and I’ve always loved it. In the nineties snowboarding became more popular and in 1991 I tried snowboarding for the first time. Snowboarding quickly became my new passion. Soon after I started doing regional halfpipe competitions, I put all my spare time into snowboarding and even went to sports school to make sure I could be on the snow as often as possible.
Things started working out the way I had hoped they would, and already at the age of sixteen I got my first sponsors.
In 2002 I finished High school (Swiss Matura) and moved to Lucerne to study law. After one year of successful studies I quit University because it just was not possible to combine a full time study with a full time occupation as a snowboarder.
In 2004 I entered the University of Hagen in Germany to study Economics by correspondence (Bachelor in Business Administration and Economics). This study allowed me to choose my own tempo and to use the summer season to focus on my studying.
At around the same time, in 2003, I started to ski again. At first it was just for fun because freeskiing at that time was still pretty new in Switzerland. After some time, skiing slowly conquered my heart again and I started to ski more and more until I decided to stop snowboarding altogether in 2005 and concentrate on skiing only. I think I’ve never been as keen on a sport as I am on freesking nowadays.
I’ve had to deal with many injuries over all those years and had to work my way back to the top every time. It definitely wasn’t easy at times but I feel like I have learned a lot from those experiences. I’ve become a stronger person and learned that without hard work there is no success. In 2013 I entered a grade school to work on my MBA because I want to continue to challenge my brain as well;-)
I retired from professional skiing in spring 2015 after winning the Bronze Medal at the FIS World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria and I am now concentrating on my job as a presenter and model. It’s a completely different life but I love it just as much.
I am still living my dream and loving it!
